TRAINING TO BECOME A IAPA TOPROPE BELAYER<\/h1>\n

The training to become a IAPA Toprope Belayer is one of the basic courses of the IAPA to work in ropes courses. As a Toprope Belayer you master the fundamentals of work on toprope stations and you are able to use these safely with participants. The support of the climbing stations as well as the material and safety instructions are the mainstay of the diversified and responsible work as a Toprope Belayer.<\/p>\n

The basic training to become a IAPA Toprope Belayer comprises at\u00a0least 30 teaching units (45 min each).
The training is carried out by a certified IAPA Trainer in one\u2019s own facility.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

Requirements:<\/strong><\/p>\n

    \n
  • Proof of first aid (9 teaching units)\u00a0respectively the signed IAPA G41\/ first aid paper.<\/li>\n
  • Minimum age: 18.<\/li>\n
  • The training participant has a written and spoken\u00a0command of the working language in the adventure\u00a0park.<\/li>\n
  • The training participant shows no signs of drug abuse.<\/li>\n
  • The training participant is physically and mentally fit.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

    Content of the training:<\/strong><\/p>\n

      \n
    • Knowledge of basic operating procedures (what is being done\u00a0every day before the adventure park is opened, by whom,\u00a0level of quality).<\/li>\n
    • Knowledge of the routine visual check according to\u00a0EN 15567-1, including all necessary visual and\u00a0functional checks before the park is opened.<\/li>\n
    • The toprope belayer must be able to assess a PPE\u2019s state visually\u00a0in order to detect damage and, if necessary, to initiate measures\u00a0to correct the identified defects (belay devices, lanyards, harnesses,\u00a0helmets and all other PPEs which are used by participants\u00a0during the park\u2019s operation).<\/li>\n
    • Ability to properly put PPE on oneself and others,\u00a0including chest harness when applicable.<\/li>\n
    • Communication with and handling of climbers and belay chain,\u00a0presentation of information and instructions (safety briefing).<\/li>\n
    • Extensive knowledge of the assisted belay systems\u00a0used in the facility.<\/li>\n
    • Levels of supervision and verbal intervention techniques and\u00a0knowledge of operating procedures specific to each facility.<\/li>\n
    • The toprope belayer must be both physically and mentally\u00a0able to walk the complete assisted belaying stations.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
